In service requests it is often helpful to create screenshots of error messages or other content on the screen.

There is a simple method to do this by using the Windows-tool “Snipping”


1. Start the „Snipping Tool“


The Snipping tool is being started by pressing the Windows key and starting to type the word “Snipping”. 




Here it is recommended to paste the tool on the task bar; right mouse button -> Pin to the task bar.


 

2. Create screenshots with the Snipping Tool


Once the Snipping tool is started, click on the button “New”


 

The screen is overlayed now with a milky mist, was signifies as much as: I am ready for a screenshot. 


The sector, which needs to be cut out, can now be highlighted with the mouse and appears clearly and precise. 


If you release the mouse button, another windows with the selected cutout appears. 



 

3. To add marks


With a pen and a highlighter you can add marks and notes or highlight spots on the screenshot. 


With a rubber you can erase these again: 


 

4. Send the picture by e-mail


Via File > send to > e-mail recipient the cutout can be sent directly by e-mail. The picture can be sent either in the e-mail body or as attachment. 

In any case Outlook will pop up with a new e-mail containing the picture. 


 

 

Additionally, resp. alternatively the picture can be copied via Edit > Copy or Ctrl +C and then with Ctrl +V be pasted into the e-mail. This usually applies, when you want to collect more than one picture into one e-mail. 


 

 

5. Save the picture


The program finally asks you, whether you want to save the picture. The recommended format is jpeg. Generally, however, you can exit the tool without saving. 


6. Close the Snipping tool 


To stop the screeshot function press the button ESC. The Snipping tool stays active in the background. 

To close the tool click on the X Symbol in the right corner.
